NANOBOMBER

(2009-2011)

The aim of this project is the development of multifunctional magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) derivatised with a tumor marker and an antitumor drug through complementary oligonucleotide chains. The local heating of the MNPs induced by the application of an alternating magnetic field will culminate with the dehybridization of the DNA chains and with the release of the drug in the tumoral zone. The efficacy of this model will be validated by in vitro and in vivo experimentation.

The specific aims of this projects are:

  • Development of methodologies to prepare stable and dispersed MNPs under physiological conditions.
  • Development of innovative and universal strategies for the multifunctionalization of MNPs.
  • Controlled release of specific drugs by magnetic hyperthermia.
